On his X, Alexander Wang teased an imminent API release for Muse Spark.
What it is
Muse Spark is Meta Superintelligence Labs' flagship AI model, shipped under Wang's leadership. A fundamentally new closed architecture, built from scratch over nine months to go head-to-head with GPT-5.4 and Gemini 3.1 Pro.
How it works
- **Agent orchestration.** Developers will be able to use the API inside their own agentic harnesses, running multiple AI systems in parallel toward a single goal.
- **Native perception.** The model doesn't just process text — it can directly analyze visual data and build reasoning chains over it.
- **Reasoning focus.** A built-in deep thinking mode lets the model work through non-standard problems in math, coding, and science step by step.
Where to try it
Regular users can already test Muse Spark in the updated Meta AI web app and inside apps like WhatsApp and Instagram. Developers are still waiting — Wang promises API access "very soon."
What else Superintelligence Labs might ship
The compact model space is currently dominated by strong open releases from spring 2026 — Google's Gemma 4 and Alibaba's Qwen 3.6 (with context windows up to 1 million tokens). The industry is expecting Meta to respond in kind with its own 9B model that's easy and cheap to run locally.
P.S. Tested Gemma 4 on a plane yesterday. Pretty cool and very fast. Will write about it in the next post.
