Tibor Blaho (an independent researcher who tracks changes in OpenAI's app code and assets) found traces of a paid reset in ChatGPT's public checkout config and web app assets. There's no button in the interface yet, but everything else is already in place.

How we got here

For the past few months Thibault Sottiaux, head of Codex, has been handing out limit resets like gifts — for every new million users, and after every major outage. People got hooked and started building tracker sites and Telegram channels with alerts.

In June, OpenAI allowed stacking resets and gifting them to friends via referrals. Now, it looks like they're about to start selling them. My buddy Grisha called it AI loot boxes.

For now we're watching the free giveaways at @codex_resets, where four thousand subscribers are waiting for a miracle.

A bonus for everyone else

If you haven't switched to Codex yet, there was good news yesterday too. Starting next week, free ChatGPT users will get unlimited text chats with GPT-5.6 Luna. Limits stay in place for files and images.
