OpenAI and Anthropic preparing next-gen frontier models

OpenAI shut down Sora for model Spud. Anthropic leaked Claude Mythos — a new class above Opus.

OpenAI and Anthropic are preparing next-generation frontier models.

OpenAI finished training a model codenamed Spud. No information about architecture or tests yet. But we know they shut down Sora entirely — just to free up and redirect all available GPUs to one task. Release is promised within a couple of weeks.

From Anthropic, a draft blog announcement leaked from an open storage bucket. The new model is called Claude Mythos, and it's a new class a step above Opus (internal class name — Capybara). They promise a strong boost in code, reasoning, and cybersecurity. The company confirmed the leak and called the model a "step change." For now they're only giving it to a narrow group of early customers: inference turned out expensive, and the team is trying to optimize it.
