Napster, which most people remember for pirate MP3s and Justin Timberlake's role in "The Social Network," has pivoted and is now releasing gadgets. Many were surprised they still exist.

Right now at CES they're showing the Napster Station — a holographic concierge kiosk for hotels and airports where you're greeted not by a live administrator but by a full AI avatar. It maintains eye contact, speaks, and checks you into your room.

They're also showing a home version — the Napster View video frame for $99. It's a small tabletop frame with a screen that shows depth-like images (3D without glasses). Essentially a dedicated monitor for your video call partner's face, or for your AI assistant — so you can talk to a human-like (personified) assistant sitting in a box on your desk maintaining eye contact. Talking to a personified assistant is more pleasant. Investors agree.
