Google added an official toggle to Nano Banana (its AI image-generation model) that fully removes watermarks from finished generations.
For a long time, the absence of this basic feature fed an entire micro-industry.
Third-party developers put out paid browser extensions and scripts that simply cropped off the watermark bar on the fly or intercepted the clean output stream. Some of these plugins managed to rake in hundreds of thousands of dollars combined — off nothing but user laziness and reluctance to blur out a logo by hand.
Now those third-party workarounds are pointless — the feature's built straight into the platform settings.
How to turn off the watermark:
1. Go to Settings (your profile or workspace settings).
2. Open the Preferences tab (or the Output / Generation Settings section).
3. Find Watermark (or Show Watermark on Export).
4. Flip the toggle to Off / Disabled.
5. Save — all new generations and exports will now come out clean by default.
If you're still paying for a subscription to some watermark-removal extension, now's the time to cancel it.
That said, the hidden watermark stays: SynthID is Google DeepMind's invisible marker that flags an image as AI-generated even when the visible watermark is gone.
