At the Davos forum, Musk shared his vision of the future. In short: real-life Star Trek and an era of abundance await us.

Here are his key points:

Robots everywhere. Musk predicts there will be more humanoid robots than humans. They will take over routine tasks and elder care, leading to explosive economic growth and abundance of goods and services for everyone.

Superintelligence is near. AI will become smarter than any individual human as early as next year, and smarter than all of humanity by around 2030. Data centers for AI will likely be placed in space, where solar energy is 5 times more efficient.

Saving humanity. Musk considers our consciousness a "tiny candle in a vast darkness" that could easily go out. To hedge against catastrophes on Earth, we must become a multi-planetary species by colonizing Mars and the Moon.

Defeating aging. Musk believes aging is a solvable problem ("cell desynchronization") and we will be able to reverse it. However, there's a risk: if people live forever, society might "ossify" and stop evolving.

Quote of the day:
*"I believe that for quality of life, it's better to be an optimist and be wrong than a pessimist and be right."*
