According to fresh Similarweb data, Grok has overtaken ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity in average visit duration. Users spend an average of 8 minutes per session in Grok — 4 times more than in ChatGPT.

⚠️ Disclaimer

This doesn't mean Grok has more traffic. In absolute numbers, ChatGPT is in a league of its own (nearly a billion users). But people stay longer in Grok.

Why?

The "entertainment" factor. ChatGPT is a utility. You go in, get your code or text, and leave. Grok with its "roast" mode and access to X is more about content and fun. People generate images through Flux, spending half an hour tweaking prompts.

Real-time search. Grok is the best at working with the Twitter news cycle. People use it as an interactive newspaper.

A technical detail. New features like DeepSearch may simply be making users wait longer for responses, which inflates the metric.

AI is no longer just a search engine on steroids — it's becoming a place where people spend time.
