Gemini and NotebookLM are now one team

Google has merged Gemini and NotebookLM: notebooks can now be created directly in Gemini, with sources automatically syncing between the two services.

Google merged the capabilities of its AI assistant Gemini with the document tool NotebookLM. Where these used to be two separate services, they now work in tight integration to help you manage large-scale projects and big volumes of data more effectively.

What it is
An integration that lets you create dedicated folders (notebooks) for your ideas and projects right inside the Gemini app, with all data syncing to NotebookLM.

How it works
You simply create a "notebook" in Gemini, upload relevant documents or PDFs, and the AI starts acting as an expert on your project.
— Auto-sync: any source you add in either tool automatically shows up in the other one.
— You can seamlessly use the unique features of each app — for example, Video Overviews and Infographics available in NotebookLM, even if you originally created the project in Gemini.
— Continuity: you can switch between services at any point and pick up exactly where you left off.

Who it's for
A great fit for analysts, researchers, students, and teams who need to quickly digest raw material, structure information, and turn scattered files into clear, visual outputs.

One thing to note
The entire integration is built with a focus on privacy — for example, if you use Gemini inside Gmail to summarize long email threads, your data stays private and isn't retained after the AI completes the task.
