Google released a native Gemini app for macOS. After install it's triggered by Option + Space — like Raycast or Spotlight, but with AI inside.
What it does
- Runs on top of open apps — the assistant window always stays on the foreground
- One-click window sharing: the model immediately gets context from whatever's on your screen
- Document analysis right from your desktop — no need to upload to the web
- Built-in tools for text, code, image, and video generation
Same idea as ChatGPT desktop and Claude for Mac — cut the constant switching to a browser. Google's edge: Gemini can pull data from Drive, Docs, and Gmail via an already-signed-in account.
Requires macOS 15. Download is free.
