AI

Anthropic brought Mythos 1 to final stage. The model surfaced inside Claude Code and Claude Security and showed up in Google Cloud and AWS bug bounty programs; Claude Opus 4.8 is also in the works in parallel.

Microsoft released MAI-Image-2.5 — third place on Arena out of the gate. The new text-to-image caught up with Google Nano Banana 2 on benchmarks.

DeepMind AlphaProof Nexus closed 9 of 353 Erdős problems. The model autonomously solved problems mathematicians hadn't touched in decades — a few hundred dollars of inference per problem.

DeepSeek made its 75% discount permanent. V4 Pro now costs 34x less than GPT-5.5 — Anthropic's and Google's frontier models are under direct price pressure. For context on LLM price trends, see how quickly LLM prices are falling.

Pope Leo XIV released the Vatican's first encyclical on AI. Magnifica Humanitas became the Church's first doctrinal document on labor and AI; Anthropic co-founder Chris Olah stood next to the pontiff at the presentation.

Software

xAI launched Grok Build — a coding agent and CLI. The beta opened to SuperGrok and X Premium Plus subscribers: plan-review, headless mode, and subagents for multi-step tasks.

Liquid embedded live stock trading directly into ChatGPT and Claude. Co-Invest covers 500+ markets — crypto, stocks, FX, Polymarket, pre-IPO — and removes the toggle between AI and broker.

Microsoft pushed Claude Code out of its internal teams. The Experiences and Devices division pulled licenses and moved engineers to GitHub Copilot CLI by June 30 — the token economics didn't add up. For background on the Claude Code vs. competitors dynamic, see the OpenAI Codex breakdown.

Robots and hardware

Tesla broke ground on a dedicated Optimus factory in Texas. The Gigafactory Texas site added 5.2 million sq ft: first units targeted for summer, goal is 27,000 robots per day by 2027.

Huawei showed a path to 1.4nm without US equipment. The company claims it has assembled a "feasible and affordable" sanctions workaround, targeting 2031.

Business

SpaceX filed its S-1 and signed Anthropic to $1.25B/month. The documents revealed a four-year contract with Anthropic through May 2029 and a plan to run AI inference directly on Starlink satellites.

OpenRouter raised $113M at a $1.3B valuation. Series B was led by CapitalG: the AI gateway hit 400+ models and 100 trillion tokens per month.

Polsia raised $30M at a $250M valuation — with zero employees. The platform closed a round on agents that autonomously ran 8,000+ businesses and conducted the fundraise themselves.
